Mural project in Knowlton, Quebec “ Imperfect balance”

Look back at a mural created for clients in their stunning country house in the Eastern Townships titled "Imperfect balance".

The concept behind this art project was to capture the view of the forest outside their home, but in light of night time. The goal was to create a balance and contrast between day and night, and between the outside world and the indoor space. The project takes inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, embracing imperfection and transience.

The work is an invitation to reflect on the impermanence of nature, the passage of time, and the beauty that exists in both the outside world and in the human-made space. It seeks to merge the interior with the exterior, allowing both to coexist in a harmonious, yet ever-changing balance. In a world that often values speed, perfection, and consumerism, wabi-sabi reminds us of the quiet grace in the things that are simple, aged, and transient.
